Underarm laser hair removal
The underarms are one of the areas where the hair is thick and dark, while the surface is small. This means a short treatment and a good response to the laser, but also limitations worth knowing about.

How much does underarm hair removal cost
In the price list, the underarms belong to the group of medium-sized areas together with the neck, cheeks, forearms and upper arms.

Why the underarms respond well to the laser
Laser light is absorbed by melanin in the hair follicle. Hair in the underarm area is usually thick and strongly pigmented, so it absorbs energy more effectively than thin, light hair. This does not mean the effect is guaranteed: the response also depends on skin phototype, hormonal background and the regularity of the treatments.
Preparing for the treatment
- No waxing, epilator or tweezers for 4 weeks. Shaving is allowed.
- Underarms shaved on the day of the treatment.
- No deodorant or antiperspirant on the day of the treatment. This is the most common oversight for this area.
- No tanning.
- Tell us about any photosensitising medication.
After the treatment
Redness and perifollicular swelling usually last for 2 to 3 days. This is an expected reaction, not a complication.

The questions we are asked most often
Do the underarms stop sweating after laser hair removal?
No. The laser acts on the hair follicle, not on the sweat glands. If the problem is excessive sweating, that is a separate matter, described on the hyperhidrosis treatment page.
Will underarm hair removal get rid of pigmentation in this area?
No. A darker shade of skin in the underarm area can be the result of irritation from shaving and waxing. Laser hair removal removes the cause of the irritation, but it is not a brightening treatment.
Is the treatment painful?
Sensations are individual. The skin is cooled during the treatment. We do not guarantee that the treatment is painless.
Will the hair grow back?
Hair removal reduces the number and thickness of hairs. Some follicles may resume activity over time, which is why single maintenance treatments are sometimes needed after the course.

Getting here for a course of treatments
We see patients at ul. Obroki 68 in Katowice, on Osiedle Witosa, close to the A4 motorway junctions and the Drogowa Trasa Średnicowa. There is private parking for patients by the building.
The underarms are treated in a course. The price list includes packages of six and eight treatments, and before the course we carry out a free laser test, which is one more visit. The response to the treatment depends not only on the thickness and colour of the hair, but also on the regularity of the treatments. Regularity is easier to maintain when a single visit does not require planning the whole day. The number of treatments and the intervals are determined at the consultation.
