Labiaplasty
The procedure reduces, shortens or evens out the labia minora. There is no single pattern for how they should look: every woman is different. There is a reason for the procedure when the enlargement gets in the way, not when it differs from photographs on the internet.

When the procedure makes sense
The most common reason for coming to us is enlargement of the labia minora, that is the inner ones, which extend beyond the labia majora. The indications reported:
- asymmetry of the labia minora,
- enlargement extending beyond the labia majora,
- deformation after childbirth and injury,
- discomfort and chafing in everyday activities,
- difficulty with sport: cycling, running,
- recurrent infections,
- aesthetic reasons.
The enlargement does not reverse on its own and there is no preparation to use at home that would reduce it. If it does not get in the way, there is no need to do anything about it.
Where the enlargement comes from
- a congenital feature, that is a build of this kind from the start,
- childbirth,
- hormone therapies and disorders of hormone secretion,
- recurrent intimate infections,
- chronic mechanical irritation, for example after a piercing has been fitted,
- a build-up of fat tissue in this area with considerable excess weight.
What labia reduction looks like
The procedure is carried out by a gynaecologist under local anaesthesia. We work with radiofrequency technology, which allows cutting and sealing the vessels at the same time. This shortens the surgical part and limits bleeding during the procedure.
We set the scope before the procedure: how much tissue to remove, what shape to give the edge, whether to correct asymmetry. We often combine labiaplasty with clitoral hood reduction, if correcting the labia alone cannot achieve the proportions the patient is after.
We show photographs of the results at the consultation. We do not publish them on the site: this is documentation of an intimate area and its place is in the treatment room, not on a website.
Healing and effect
- Return to activitya few days, depending on the extent of the procedure
- Swellingsettles within a few weeks
- The final resultafter at least six weeks
- Scarsfade and become barely visible, usually within 6 to 12 months
The procedure is not reimbursed. For the healing period the doctor can issue a sick note.
Risk and contraindications
This is a surgical procedure, so it has complications. The most common and temporary ones: swelling, bruising, pain and burning in the first days. Rarer ones: haematoma, infection of the wound, the stitches coming apart, temporary changes in sensation around the incision, a hypertrophic scar, persisting asymmetry or the need for correction.
We do not carry out the procedure with an active intimate infection, in pregnancy and while breastfeeding, with clotting disorders and unstable general conditions, and also when the patient's expectations go beyond what the procedure can give.
Bleeding of undetermined cause, a skin lesion that raises doubt or symptoms of infection require diagnosis first. More: when it is not an aesthetic matter.
How much does labiaplasty cost?
The price of the procedure is in the aesthetic gynaecology price list. If clitoral hood reduction is needed during the procedure, it is included in the price of the labiaplasty.
The consultation before the procedure
The procedure is preceded by an appointment with the gynaecologist: a medical history covering health, past conditions and medicines taken, an examination, a talk through expectations and the choice of method. The consultation is a paid appointment: 150 PLN.
It is worth bringing test results with you if you have them. They are not required, and the doctor will order the necessary tests on the spot:
- full blood count,
- general urine test,
- HBs antigen, HCV, HIV,
- cervical screening.
We perform the procedure both when the hypertrophy causes symptoms and for aesthetic reasons. Labiaplasty at NL Clinic is a private procedure and is not settled under the NFZ (the public health fund). If labial hypertrophy causes symptoms, the possibility of publicly funded treatment is decided by a gynaecologist at a facility that has a contract with the NFZ.

Where we see patients and how many times you need to come
The aesthetic gynaecology clinic is at ul. Obroki 68 in Katowice, on Osiedle Witosa. There is a private car park for patients by the building.
For a labiaplasty you come at least twice. The first visit is a consultation with the gynaecologist: a medical history, an examination and a talk through the choice of method, and the doctor orders the necessary tests on the spot. The procedure itself takes two to four hours, and returning to normal activity takes a few days, depending on the extent. In the first days afterwards there is swelling, bruising and soreness. The day of the procedure is therefore a long one, and the journey home falls just as the anaesthesia is wearing off. The car park by the building has a practical value on a day like that.
Patients travel to us from Chorzów, Ruda Śląska, Świętochłowice, Gliwice, Siemianowice Śląskie, Mysłowice, Mikołów, Sosnowiec and Dąbrowa Górnicza. The building stands close to the junctions of the A4 motorway and the Drogowa Trasa Średnicowa, some fifteen minutes from the city centre. Details of how to get here and a map are on the Contact.
The treatment also concerns labia minora hypertrophy.
In the same area, we perform clitoral hood reduction.
